Performing Missionaries in Historic Nauvoo, 2022

Between August 1 and November 1, 2021, single members of the Church ages 18 to 25 are invited to audition to serve as performing missionaries, helping with musical and stage productions in Historic Nauvoo. Their service will begin on February 1, 2022, and conclude in January 2023. During that time, they will spend 15 weeks sharing their talents in Nauvoo. This is a senior service missionary assignment. Although this is a significant opportunity for service, it does not take the place of a full-time mission.

The following information may be helpful for young single adults, their parents, and their leaders:

  • Performing missionaries include singers, dancers, band musicians, and production technicians.

  • They are selected by audition and then called and set apart as senior service missionaries. Talented returning missionaries, including any who returned early during the pandemic, are encouraged to audition.

  • The 2022 season will include opportunities for singers and dancers to serve in Nauvoo in one of three casts:

    • Spring cast: March 15–June 28

    • Summer cast: May 3–August 9

    • Fall cast: June 28–October 11

    • The Nauvoo Brass Band is part of the summer cast.

  • As with any mission assignment, performers are required to be temple-worthy. They commit to live by missionary standards and follow a rigorous schedule of preparation, rehearsal, and performances.

  • The Church covers airfare to and from Nauvoo. Each missionary pays a fee by March 1, 2022, to cover lodging, on-ground transportation, and other expenses. Missionaries need personal funds to pay for food and personal items.
